Pathetic Geek Stories | January 19, 2004

Pathetic Geek StoriesEvery Wednesday, I crack open my packed lunch, sit back and enjoy the new installment of The Onion, starting with all the lead stories, followed by the "News in Brief" and the editorials. Then I wrap the whole thing up with the latest episode of Pathetic Geek Stories by Maria Schneider.

To my horror, last week marked the last time Pathetic Geek Stories ran in The Onion. To my joy, it now has a new home at www.patheticgeekstories.com.

All my favorites are there in the archive, including:

  • The Funniest One, featuring a cameo appearance by Jem and the Holograms.

  • The One that Happened to Me (My lip-synch contest partner dropped out, leaving me to perform Tears for Fears' "Head Over Heels" all by myself in the 8th grade. I got some positive feedback...)

  • The One that Could Have Happened to Me, if someone had told me that Morrissey was dead.

  • The Most Carefully Crafted Humiliation, which is doubly horrifying because it features geek-on-geek rejection.

    Lock and load.

  • Written elsewhere.

You can find more of the interesting word usements I structure* on Apple.com.
