I guess I’ve finally reached that frightening age when everyone around me starts having babies. Two college friends were due this month, in fact. I thought I should honor these brave, busy women by saving them some time with one of life’s most stressful decisions: what to name your baby.
Sure, you could go to your nearest Bookopolis and buy the first five baby names books that catch your eye. Or you could do what my mother did and look up something weird but roughly ancestral homeland-appropriate to make “Jones” seem more interesting. Or you could consult the NFL’s directory of defensive ends eligible for this weekend’s draft. But if Ikaika, Mkristo, and Xzavie leave you cold, there is somewhere to turn.
